Thumbs Down (Again) On Statin Drugs For Older Americans

Statin cholesterol-lowering drugs do not appear to have any significant beneficial effect on mortality of older Americans.  This is a repeat conclusion from earlier studies.  Older Americans (over 80+) may have frail livers and taking a liver toxin like statin drugs may be contraindicated in the very old.
