Resveratrol reported to normalize hormone levels among women with polycystic ovary syndrome

A resveratrol (rez-vair-ah-trol) dietary supplement lowered abnormally high testosterone levels and increased insulin sensitivity among women after 3 months of treatment.  [Journal Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism 2016; Eureka Alert Oct 18, 2016] These positive effects were similar to those produced by use of a contraceptive pill or metformin, an anti-diabetic drug.  Polycystic ovary is a condition that often results in infertility.

Note: the dose used in this study, 1500 mg, is not recommended and is likely to result in frontal headaches, fatigue or Achilles heel tendonitis over time.
