Resveratrol controls cholesterol

Resveratrol and its liver metabolites inhibits the production of cholesterol in the liver and facilitates excretion of cholesterol via bile flow to provide a less toxic method of cholesterol control versus statin drugs.  The idea that resveratrol is not biologically available because it is detoxified (attached to detox molecules) as it passes through the liver is dispelled.  Resveratrol metabolites are equally able to exhibit cholesterol-lowering effects.   [Journal Food Science 2016]
