Iron chelation posed as therapy for Parkinson’s disease

Iron Regulatory Protein 1 is identified as a key regulator of iron in the brain.  Iron accumulates, damage occurs to the mitochondria (cellular power plants) inside brain cells and the dopamine-producing cells die off.  Iron chelators (key-lay-tors) are posed as therapy. [Parkinson’s Disease 2016]
