Does more vaccination against the human papilloma virus (HPV) equate with saved lives?

Well that is precisely what a lead physician claims.  Ophira Ginsberg MD of the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, Canada, says: “if all 12-year old girls were immunized this year, 420,000 cervical cancer deaths could be averted.”  [Medscape Nov 1, 2016] How could that be?  The median age when cervical cancer is first detected is age 49 years.  The HPV virus has many strains the vaccine does not protect against.  Modern medicine will not know for many years whether HPV vaccination will save even one life.  And hopefully HPV vaccination is not giving license to young girls to participate in risky sexual activity.
