Catching A Cold: Mom Was Right About Wearing A Sweater

Well, well, all the Dr.-Mom’s were right all along.  Yale University researchers found cold viruses replicate more readily when the temperature of the nose dips below core body temperature (37 degrees Celsius/98.8 degrees Fahrenheit).  At 33 Celsius/9.14 Fahrenheit, key immune proteins called interferons are impaired, which allows the cold virus to reproduce and spread in airway cells.  [Proceedings National Academy Science at Eureka Alert
