Ability to widen blood vessels with increased heart rate compromised by vitamin D shortage

Massive vitamin D deficiency among patients who have incurred an acute heart attack gives rise to the inability of arteries to dilate (widen) with increased stress (elevated heart rate).  Arterial dilation among vitamin D-deficient individuals was almost half that of vitamin D-sufficient individuals.
